How to use – The book consists of two major parts:
Part 1: Atlases of the Human Brain in the Head
Features:
- Surface anatomy of the brain (with topometric grid)
- Placement of all sections indicated
- The 1 cm slices are cut at regular intervals in all planes of sectioning.
- Both sides of every section are shown.
- All sections are accompanied by a radiograph from the same head and
- MR-images from a healthy volunteer showing the same plane of section.
- Vascular territories in the brain are indicated.
Part 2: Detailed Atlas of the Human Brain in Stereotaxic Coordinates
Features:
- Surface views of the brain prior to sectioning
- 69 serial microscopic (20 μm) myelin sections
- Placement of all sections indicated
- Metric stereotaxic grid system for all three dimensions
- Drawings of all 69 sections with detailed delineations
- Consistent color coding for cortex areas and individual structures allowing the user to follow structures from section to section
- Nissl stained sections with delineations of the thalamus and hypothalamus
- Screen shots of 3D reconstructions of several brain structures
- More than 50 publications dealing with histological,
