Nomenclature

Considering the obvious need for a stable neuroanatomical nomenclature, we have decided to use the abbreviation system of Paxinos and colleagues because it is consistently applied in companion atlases of various animals and used by many experts in the field of neuroscience.

Hierarchical Tree

The Hierarchical Tree provides the ontology of all terms used in the Atlas of the Human Brain. The colors used here are the same colors as those used in the Atlas figures for the respective areas.
